The STRUCTOGRAM® Training System (Biostructural Analysis) was developed by implementing knowledge obtained from brain research and has been emphatically confirmed by current results in anthropological disciplines and systems sciences.
The American brain researcher, Professor Dr. Paul D. MacLean (1913-2007), Director of the Brain Evolution and Behaviour Institute at the National Institute of Mental Health, Bethesda/Maryland, studied the fundamental evolution/biological principles and mechanisms of action (functional structure) of the brain in the 1970's and 1980's. Here he learned that our brain has retained the major traits from different periods of evolution in its development. MacLean coined the term of the ‘triune brain’ to describe this. His discovery plays a major role in understanding the relationship of the corollaries between the brain structure and the human character or behaviour.
The anthropologist Rolf W. Schirm, Munich, who acted as a consultant, developed a model of the human personality based on a number of empirical studies. This empirical knowledge gained its differentiation or specification as a structural model and its solid scientific underpinning through the ‘triune brain concept’ of MacLean, whom Schirm first met in the 1970's. The outcome was the Biostructural Analysis with the Structogram.
Schirm met Dr. Victor Bataillard, founding member of the Swiss Institute for Business Administration (Schweizerisches Institut für Betriebsökonomie) and former owner of the publishing company ‘Organisator-Verlag’, Zurich, in the 1980's. In collaboration with Schirm, Dr. Bataillard founded the IBSA - Institute for Biostructural Analyses- (Institut für Biostruktur-Analysen AG), Zurich, as an international franchiser of Biostructural Analysis. Following the death of Dr. Bataillard, the Swiss Peter Stutz took over the management of the Institute, which is now headquartered in Lucerne.
Following the death of Rolf W. Schirm, Juergen Schoemen, director of the German Structogram Centre, Speyer/Frankfurt and member of the Scientific Advisory Board of IBSA, in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of scientists was able to emphatically confirm the work of Schirm and expand the scientific substantiation of Biostructural Analysis from new discoveries in neuro-science, molecular biology and behavioural genetics. The team of authors Christian Reist, Juergen Schoemen and Peter Stutz ultimately developed the STRUCTOGRAM® Training System for leadership and sales. Based on the seminar components ‘Structogram (self-knowledge)’ and ‘Triogram (understanding others)’, the seminar ‘The Key to Understanding the Customer’ allows the special application of Biostructural Analysis in sales, leadership and consultation.
